Chicago Arabesque is a non-religious, non-political festival promoting
public awareness, understanding and appreciation of the rich cultural heritage of the
Arab World. Representing more than twenty Arab countries, the fest seeks to
introduce Americans to the rich diversity of the Arab World through workshops,
calligraphy, artisan demonstrations, activity booths, Arab cuisine and a souq (bazaar).
There will also be daily performances of Arab music and dance.
Children will enjoy storytellers, magicians and games.
Festival planners expect an audience of approximately 50,000 diverse Chicagoans and
guests. Visitors will enjoy educational and commercial booths showcasing culture and
products from Arab countries presented by Arab-owned enterprises and entities
